The Nigerian government has saved 78 Nigerians who were victims of human traders on Ivory Coast.
The victims who were repatriated arrived at Murtala Muhammated International Airport, Lagos, around 11:00 noon on Saturday, and consisted of 73 women, two men, and three babies and were received by
> Director General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (Naptip), Binta Bello.
When talking to people who returned, Bello said their repatriation was the re -affirmation of the agency’s commitment to the war against human trafficking.
“This is an important opportunity, the day that marking is not only a safe return from our beloved daughter but also re -affirmation of our unrucky commitment for the war against human trafficking,” Naptip Dg.
“To young women and girls who have just returned, we say welcome to home. You are brought far from the safety and dignity that you deserve to get, but today, you return to the land of Nigeria, and you are not alone. You are at home, and this country stands with you.
“Your courage, your survival, and your return symbolizes hope for thousands of other people who may still be in the shadows.
“And for those who have captured this crime, let today a reminder that Nigeria will never relent in pursuing justice,” he said.
Boss Naptip states that some of those who are responsible for vile trade have been captured and will face the full power of law, adding that the agency will create a profile and thrill the survivors for the steps needed in accordance with their mandate, which includes counseling and skills acquisition training.
“We are grateful to the Government of the Republic of Federal Nigeria for continuous support and political will in combating trafficking in persons, that support has played a role in enabling naptip to carry out this noble mandate.
“We also express our sincere gratitude to air Airlines Peace for their generous and patriotic help in facilitating safe returns from these victims for free.
“Your partnership is a shining example of how the private sector can contribute significantly to national efforts.
“For all our local and international partners, thank you. Your collaboration continues to empower us, and today’s success is one that we share with you all.”
Some victims also told of their journey to human trafficking that ended in slavery.

One of the victims said:
“One of my friends told me that he was running a supermarket, that he would be glad I came and worked and produced like N300,000 a month.
“He said that I didn’t need to worry about the transportation he would pay for me, what he did.
“But when I got there, I realized there was no supermarket when he forced me to prostitute.
“He said that he paid N3 million for my transportation and that I had to sleep with a man so that I pay it back. I told him that I could not, but he threatened to kill or cut my hair and bring him to a Herbalist to make me crazy.
“For fear of unknown things, I started sleeping with different men,” he said.
According to him, she was four months pregnant and needed help to care for her and her unborn baby.
“When I found I was pregnant, he asked me to cancel, I told him that I could not because the baby was big.
“He began to persecute me, hit me with a stick in my stomach. Sometimes, he sent some men to kick my stomach to lose pregnancy.
“When I could no longer bear the torture, I went to report to the police,” he said.
Another victim, a 17 -year -old girl, said that she met a woman who forced her into a commercial sex.
“A woman approached me, she said she wanted to take me to Cote D’AVoire to work in a restaurant and I would be paid 1.5 million CFA every month.
“I and six other girls accepted, he told us not to tell our parents. When we got there, he and his gang threw us in the forest where men came to pick us up to have sex.
“Some of my colleagues who were picked up for sex never returned. Some were killed and dumped on the road,” he said.
He added that after undergoing a series of abortion, the woman did a family planning five years for him.
