The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has increased alarm over the new surge in the attack and kidnapping of Boko Haram, warning that the frequency of this incident without substantial resistance indicates erosion of control in the state.
Overcoming a Special Expansion Security Meeting (ESM) on Tuesday, Zulum joined a high -ranking military and security official, including public officials who led 7 divisions, Major General Abubakar Haruna, Police Commissioner, and various traditional leaders.
The meeting also featured Shehu of Borno, Alh. Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kekemi, and other local emir, although some key figures do not exist.
The governor acknowledged the relative peace of the state over the past three years, crediting the support of his government for military efforts in fighting terrorism. However, he expressed his deep concern over the intensification of new attacks, which had resulted in the transfer of military units and the loss of civilian lives.
Important areas affected include Wajirko, Sabon Gari in Damboa, Wulgo in Gamboru Ngala, and Izge in Gwoza, signifying a worrying setback for Borno and a wider northeast region.
He said, “When I discussed this important meeting today, it is unfortunate that the new Boko Haram attacks and kidnapping in many communities almost every day without confrontation implies that Borno countries lose place,” he said.
Innocent civilians and security agencies call for serious concerns, and that is a set of back in a fragile borno and northeast region.
“In as many as the Borno government under the leadership I praised the federal government under the leadership of the Ball President Ahmed Tinubu and the security institution for their unrodged support in the war against Boko Haram, more efforts must be made through the border that hit, the pillars that hit. Niger and Cameroon.”
Zulum praised the Federal government under the President of the Tinubu Bola for his continuous support against Boko Haram, but emphasized that more needed. He advised to increase military resources, especially through the integration of technological advances, to overcome increased attacks in the border area of Borno Sahel, who shared the boundaries with Chad, Niger, and Cameroon.
Shehu of Borno, who represented traditional leaders, also highlighted the terrible situation in Guzamala, Marte, Abbadam, and the Mobbar, which remained under the control of Boko Haram. He showed that these regions did not have a civilian government and called for an urgent infrastructure improvement, especially the reconstruction of the main federal roads, including the routes of Biu-Bamboa-Maiduguri and Maiduguri-Dikwa-Ngala.
