The chief coach of the National Senior team of Nigeria, Eric Chelle, says he is open to the idea of inviting new players to the team before the friendly tournament that labeled the Unity Cup in England.
Chelle has already presented his list of players to the Football Federation of Nigeria (NFF) for the tournament that will see them face Ghana in their first game on May 28, a game that a victory will see them play against the winner of the other game in Trinidad and Tobago against Jamaica.
The time of the tournament means that players from the Italian series, LaLiga and the English Premier League will probably miss him, since it coincides when they are rounding their season. A scenario that has opened the door for the possible invitation of new players.
“It is possible and Chelle has always insisted that there is space at all times for the new players, but they have to be so good or better than those of the team at this time,” said a back room staff to Owngoalnigeria.com.
“For the Unity Cup and the friendly game against Russia, there will definitely be some new players in the team. This is the time to try something else before the resumption of games for the World Cup qualifiers, and Chelle will certainly do so,” he concluded.
