Lawyers and human rights activists, Inbehe Effiong, have described the defector of the Governor of Umo Eno from the state of Akwa Ibom as well as several top political figures in the state of the Democratic Party (PDP) to the Congress of All Progressive (APC), as a step intended in taking large resources and state allocation.
Governor Eno, during the meeting of the State Executive Council (Exco) on Thursday, reportedly instructed his cabinet members to join him in defecting from PSP to APC or submitting their resignation.
When handling the meeting, Eno was quoted as saying:
“Anyone who claims he is not aware of my intention to leave PDP still alive in the 18th century,” he said.
According to the Governor, his decision to defect to the ruling party came from an increasingly greater admiration for the leadership style of the Tinubu Bola President and the desire to establish a work relationship closer to the federal government.
He is also said to have issued a strong message for the person he pointed out, emphasizing that he did not have space for negotiations with those who did not want to follow in his political footsteps.
“Apart from the elected officials such as members of the House Council and the Regional Government Chairperson, I have nothing to negotiate with you
“Let me tell you, anyone who believes that when I leave PDP he will use the party structure to fight me lying, because I will still control the PDP structure.”
However, Effiong rejected the reasons given by Eno about why he left the party that brought him into power because he was sure it was a step aimed at looting state resources and protecting corrupt politicians from prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
Writing on his X -grip on Friday, Radical lawyer says:
“The protector of the defender in Akwa Ibom is about looting the great resources and allocation of the country.
“This is also about protecting the looters from the prosecution of EFCC.
