Three people have been killed with six other people injured in the invasion during the Indian Hindu Railway Festival on Sunday in the Coastal State of Odisha, local government officials have confirmed.
According to Siddharth Swain, a district administrative official, the tragic incident occurred in the morning near the Gundicha temple in Puri, about 63 km south of Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha.
“The chaos is open when the ritual that pulls the train begins and the three trains are parked in front of the temple. The worshipers, really want to glance at the gods on the train, jostling and falling on each other,” Swain told reporters.
“Three people have been killed and six injuries suffered; none of them are serious and all come out of danger,” YB Khurania, Director General of Police in the State of Odisha, also said.
“Around 4:30 pm today, the holy train is in the Gundicha Temple and the large crowd has gathered for a Darshan. When the crowd swells, some people fall and the invasion begins.

“Three people were killed on the spot. These are two women, Prabhati Das and Basanti Sahu, and Premakant Mohanty who are 70 years old. The three came from the Khurda District and came to Puri for Rathh Yatra,” he added.
Chairman of Odisha Minister Mohan Chanan Majhi, said “the tragic incident” occurred because of “the rush of extraordinary worshipers.”
“I expressed condolences to their families who lost their lives,” Majhi posted on X, adding that the investigation was launched.
“This negligence cannot be forgiven. I have directed the investigation directly into safety deviations, and exemplary actions will be taken against those who are responsible,” he added.
