Three -wheeled crush container, killing police officers in Lagos

A 40 -footed container truck overturned over a tricycle and killed a police officer in Lagos on Tuesday.

One other passenger was killed in the incident.

General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lastma), Olalekan Bakare-Oki, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday at Lagos.

He noted that the accident occurred before on Tuesday along Ijora Causeway, Inward Ijora Seven-Up.

Bakare-Oki said: “The preliminary finding shows that the articulated vehicle, when trying dangerous maneuvers under the ijora bridge, loses control and as a result, fatal to destroy the three-wheeled with the KJA 364 QN registration number.

“Unfortunately, two passengers, a police officer who served inclusive, died instantly.

“The remaining police officers who died were then taken to the morgue in Yaba by security operators, while the second victim’s relative, a female passenger, rushed to the scene to take the remnants of their loved ones.”

He said in the valiant rescue operation spearheaded by Lastma operators in a concert with allied emergency respondents, two additional victims, including three -wheeled operators, lived alive, even though they suffered severe foot broken legs.

He added that the injured were transported by Lagos State Ambulance Service (Lasambus) to Jimi Ogunnusi Hospital, Gasikiya, Ijora, for urgent medical intervention.

“To avoid offspring into chaos, the joint detachment of security personnel taken from the Badia, Trinity, and Kirikiri Division which was founded with a strong security rope.

“The presence of those who determined to calm the angry audience, who had tried to burn the combined trucks, and protected the emergency respondents during the duration of the rescue operation,” GM Lastma said.
