Tida generates alarm on persistent attacks on TV communities, urges government intervention

The Tiv Development Association (Tida) in the state of Nasarawa has expressed profound concern for continuous and growing attacks on the TV communities, in particular in the border areas of the areas of the local government of Keana and Doma (LGA) of the state.

In a statement issued by its interim president, Professor Emmanuel Kucha on Thursday 3 July 2025, Tida strongly condemned the wave of violence, citing the consequences of the brutal murder of over 200 farmers in Yelewata – a border city in Benue Dati – as a turning point that led to increase the attacks on the tiva indigenous in Nasarawa.

“Tida is deeply painful by these senseless murders. We have lost numerous farmers, while many others are serious injuries. Some victims are currently receiving care in various health centers, including the specialist hospital of Lafia”, reads the note.

According to Professor Kucha, the most recent attacks occurred between 13 June and the beginning of July 2025 which hit several villages including doga Ayande a Doma Lga, Antsa in Keana LGA, Yange in Obi Lga and Akura in the administrative council of the Giza area.

“These accidents have led to a significant loss of human lives and has seriously left many wounded farmers of the Tiv,” said the declaration.

Tida therefore called the Governor of the State of Nasarawa, Eng. Abdullahi Sule and Security Agencies to take immediate and decisive actions to stop the ongoing violence, which has intensified in the last month.

“We are putting our hope in determining Nigerian security agencies to put an end to these attacks, in accordance with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to end this carnage,” concluded the declaration.
