President Bola Tinubu urged the Nigerians to pray for the poor and vulnerable in the country.
Tinubu also asked for further prayers for military and security agencies who currently made sacrifices to protect the nation, in particular those who confront terrorists and bandits.
The president, who observed the Eid-Al-Adha prayers in the EID ground in the Dodan barracks, the state of Lagos, on Friday 6 June 2025, told journalists that security agencies and vulnerable citizens should exceed the list of prayers.
Tinubu said: βWe should remember to pray and give to those who are very vulnerable in the spirit of the season, which is sacrifice.
βWe have to unite, stay the goalkeeper of our brothers and give our neighbors. We should show love to everyone.
“We must also pray to our troops to keep us safe. They are doing sacrifices in the challenges that we face from terrorism and bandits today. We must pray for them specifically, remember their sacrifices and continue to behave well as citizens”.
Speaking to the prayer ground, the main imam of the state of Lagos, Soleiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nola, urged the Muslim faithful to remember and reflect on the sacrificial life of Abraham.
“Today’s entire essence is a sacrifice. We must learn to make sacrifices for our family, nation and community. We must make our service to Allah, not to men,” he said.
Chapter Imam invited worshipers to live in peace and consider the needs of their neighbors, poor and vulnerable.
