President Bola Tinubu congratulated his holiness Leo XIV for his election as Bishop of Rome and the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
The president, in a declaration of Thursday from his media helper Bayo Onanuga, felt the Conclave for having elected the American Robert Francis Cardinal Prevost as the 267th Bishop of Rome.
The president Tinubu rejoiced from the leadership and congregates of the Catholic Church in Nigeria in the historical elections of the new Pontiff whose message of faith and hope already resonates all over the world, with a reassurance from the scriptures of a more peaceful world.
The president stated the precious relations shared between Nigeria and the Holy See for many years, recognizing the rewarding partnership with the Catholic Church under the construction of peace, education, health care, infrastructure and, more recently, the promotion of technology in the progress of human ability.
President Tinubu said he believed that the election of Pope Leo XIV had opened a new chapter in the history of the Catholic Church and the values of love, humanity and charity, in particular for the disadvantaged that has constantly projected.
President Tinubu prayed that the Almighty God continually emit his light of glory on the new leader of the Catholic Church and gives him good health and wisdom so that he can reach the world with the message of peace and love.
