Federation Government Secretary (SGF), George Akume, has rejected a report on his transfer by the President of the Tinubu Bola.
The report emerged for a week that President Tinubu ‘had directed Akume to resign as SGF to become the National Chairperson of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
This followed Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation as Chairman of the APC last Thursday.
The report added that the President had appointed a former Director of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, as the new SGF.
But in a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of the Press and Public Relations, Segun Imohiocene, SGF rejected the report as fake and baseless.
He said the president did not have a “intention” to fire him.

“The information is entirely wrong, misleading, and does not have any basis, because the president does not have the intention to do it,” the statement said.
“President Tinubu revoked an unwavering trust in the SGF capacity to release his legal obligations to formulate and implement the policies and programs of the new hope agenda from administration.
“We urge the public, media organizations and digital platforms to ignore these rumors and to be careful and verify the authenticity of information before spreading it.
“Spreading narratives that are not verified or deliberately not only damage public trust but also a threat to the integrity of our institution.”
