Tinubu hosted Alaafin, looking for more collaboration with traditional ruler

Tinubu Ball President on Friday called for more support from traditional authorities in implementing policies that directly affected Nigerians.

The President, according to a statement issued by a special advisor about information and strategy, Bayo Onauga, made a telephone when he received Oba Abimbola Owoade I, Alaafin Oyo, his wife, Abiwumi, and other traditional rulers delegates from the state of Oyo at the President of Villa, Abuja.

Tinubu congratulated Alaafin for his authority to the historic throne and convinced the king of his prayer and support.

He said: “This is a great joy for me and a great honor. Your power to your father’s throne. That is the will of God and the hearts of people.

“I follow up on your future review for your development, humility, and the fact that you uphold the traditions of your people.

“The tradition inherited is the making of the Almighty God. Your strength to the throne, like I become President, is the Divine will of the Almighty God.”

The president noted that “obstacles, processes, and anxiety” along the road is part of the preparation for that position.

Tinubu praised the traditional council for ease of nominating and wearing the 46th alafin, after the death of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi on April 22, 2022.

“I am happy that you have shown the character and discipline and raised your name, values, and culture, even when you are in Canada.

“I am glad you have become a hope to maintain the Yoruba race,” he added.

The President said his government would continue to work with traditional institutions to implement policies to protect and prosper citizens.

“The peace and stability of our nation needs inclusive. This work is not a job that you can do yourself. We must unite ourselves together to build the nation of prosperity.

“Our priority is still education and medicare. We want to elevate education and cultural values. Our doors are open to participation,” he said.

The President told the king that the sons of the Oyo kingdom who served in his office had done it very well, including Amb. Victor Adeleke, Head of the State Protocol, and Colonel Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf, The Aide-De-Camp.

Joseph was the king who was appointed by Ilemonaland on the local council of Oyun in the state of Kwara, who tracked his ancestors to the kingdom of Oyo.

In his remarks, Alaafin convinced the president of traditional council support in delivering his mandate to the people.

“Today, I speak not only as a guardian of culture and tradition but as a voice for my people, who are highly respected by the audience that you have given us here in the heart of national leadership.

“Your friendly reception is more than the protocol. This is a sign of your character, state, and respect that lasts a long time with traditional institutions.

“Oyo people remember your journey as a man who rises through a container of political struggle with courage and unmatched charity. You won many hearts as activists, strategists, bridge builders and now as prominent leaders of the state,” he said.

The traditional ruler said the Nigerians looked at the president in a new direction.
