President Tinubu Ball has ordered direct provisions for free health care to low -income retirees under the contribution pension scheme (CPS)
This step is part of the federal government’s efforts to improve the welfare of Nigerian retired.
The President also ordered a rapid implementation of long -standing retirement increases and minimum pension guarantees, which aim to protect the most vulnerable retirement.
Special advisors about information and strategies to the President, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
He described these steps as an important step to uphold “social protection and dignity in retirement.”
Tinubu’s orders came shortly after comprehensive briefing in the state building in Abuja by Ms. Omolaola Olovoraran, Director General of the National Pension Commission (Pencom).
During the briefing, President Tinubu also instructed pencoles to immediately complete the challenges of retirement that affected the retired police officers, many of them have repeatedly protested throughout the country for inadequate retirement and deteriorating living conditions.

“Members of the police who serve and protect the nation are worthy of retirement with the dignity and peace of mind,” Tinubu emphasized.
Agitation by retired police has centered around the call to get out of the contribution retirement scheme, which they believe has failed to meet their post-obstacles due to structural deviations.
In response, Olovoraran convinced the President’s commitment to overcome this problem and improve the overall performance of pension funds in the bright inflation and economic headwinds.
He further outlines the future reforms, including the development of platforms to enable Nigerians in the Diaspora to contribute to pension funds in foreign currencies, a step that he said will expand participation and strengthen the system.
Highlighting the reform agenda, Pencom DG also emphasizes sustainable efforts to expand the scope of pension and improve the welfare of retirement nationally.
President Tinubu welcomed the initiative and reiterated his government dedication for inclusive economic growth and the protection of ordinary Nigerians, especially parents and those who served the country faithfully.
The President’s instructions marked a significant shift in policy towards a more human retirement condition, and reflects the increasing national concerns about the welfare of retirees, especially those from security services.
