President Bola Tinubu said on Saturday his administration would provide more modern equipment and resources to the Nigerian Police Force to carry out its responsibilities more effectively.
He said this at the graduation ceremony of 478 students of the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, urged the graduates to strictly adhere to modern police ethics in discharging their responsibilities.
He ordered them to stay away from corruption and uphold the highest level of professionalism in the police force.
The President expressed confidence that the officers had received sufficient academic and professional training to make a positive impact on the country’s security architecture.
Tinubu assured that the Federal Government would continue to support the academy, which he described as one of the best training grounds for police officers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The President gave a mandate to new officials to prioritize the interests of the nation, carry out constitutional duties, and demonstrate dedication and work commitment.
He said: “We are also embarking on a massive recruitment drive into the Police with the aim of empowering our youth to participate in national security efforts.
“When you graduate today, you will not only receive a certificate, but you will also become an ambassador of the Nigerian Police Force.
“I charge you to carry out your primary duties with compassion, integrity and professionalism.
“Remember that you are the face of the police force, and your actions will reflect on the institution and the country as a whole.
“Come forward and serve with honor, dignity and respect for all Nigerians. Congratulations on your graduation.”
