The Nigeria National League (NNL) Promotional Super Eight is set to kick off in Enugu from June 7th to 14th, 2024. The tournament will see sixteen elite referees and assistant referees officiating the matches, under the watchful eyes of respected Referees Instructors, Ameenu Mohammed, Emmanuel Imiere, and Waziri Furo.

Ameenu Mohammed, a Technical Instructor (football) with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Referees Assessor, Emmanuel Imiere, a retired FIFA Referee now serving as a Fitness Instructor and Referees Assessor, and Waziri Furo, a former FIFA Badged Assistant Referee and member of the Referees Development and Appointment Committee, have been tasked with overseeing the referees.

The trio, along with the sixteen match arbiters, are expected to arrive in Enugu on or before June 7th. They will bring their wealth of experience to bear while officiating the 13 matches of the NNL Promotional Playoffs. These matches will determine the four teams that will be promoted to the nation’s top-tier division, the NPFL.

Of the sixteen officials appointed, eight are referees, and the other eight are assistant referees. Sarah Godwin of the Bauchi Referees Council, known for her excellent interpretation of the rules, is the only woman on the list.

The referees include Habibu Ghali from Kano, Simon Kure from Kaduna, Oscar Iwumandu from Imo, Areweremu Ebimene from Delta, Osakpamwan Alohan from Edo, Sunday Ocheme from FCT, Busayo Olayinka from Kwara, and Mohammed Mohammed from Niger.

The assistant referees are Muhammed Aminu Mammaga from Zamfara, Sarah Godwin from Bauchi, Mohammed Ibrahim G. from Zamfara, Suleiman Ibrahim from Kwara, Ridwan Lawal from Oyo, Onyemaobi Fidelis from Anambra, Stanley Chibuko from Enugu, and Enwo Sebastien Egbo from Ebonyi.

The NNL Super Eight playoffs will be streamed live and broadcast on SLTV. Africa’s largest Radio Network, Radio Nigeria, will also run live commentaries of the matches. This event promises to be a thrilling display of football, showcasing the best of Nigeria’s lower league teams as they vie for a spot in the prestigious NPFL.
