The defender of Chelsea, Tosin Adarabioyo, has firmly denied recent reports that suggest that he rejected a call to represent the super eagles of Nigeria, categorically stating that “he has never rejected Nigeria.”
The 27 -year -old center went to speculation at a press conference after the game after the dominant victory 4 1 of Chelsea over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final, a historic night that limited a successful season for the West London Club.
Adarabioyo, who joined Chelsea in a Fulham free transfer last summer, clarified the circumstances around his international status, describing the narratives of the media as “quite false.”
“I’ve never rejected Nigeria,” he said. “And I have never had any conversation with them to say that I will go to Nigeria.
“At the time of last season, where there was a little conversation, I told them that I just want to concentrate on club football.
“I was in my last year in Fulham and I just wanted to have a solid race there. Now I am in Chelsea, my first year, in which I wanted to concentrate again.”
Born in London from Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo is eligible to play for both England and Nigeria. He has represented England at U19 levels, but has not yet made a senior appearance for any of the nations.
With his first season at Stamford Bridge now behind him, the defender acknowledged that the time has come to make a final decision regarding his international future.
