The massive building collapse that occurred at Arowojobe Estate in Maryland, Lagos State, has led to the deaths of three workers on site.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Thursday.
According to LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency received a distress call at 3:49 am regarding a collapsed building at No 13, Wilson Mba St., Arowojobe Estate, Maryland, Lagos.
Emergency response teams were immediately deployed, and upon arrival, they found that three terraces under construction had collapsed.

Rescue efforts resulted in the recovery of three adult males, who were pronounced dead at the scene. Two adult males were rescued alive, and another adult male was trapped under the rubble but was later rescued. The six people involved were all workers at the site, while those rescued received pre-hospital care at the scene.
βThe agency received an emergency call regarding a collapsed building at the address at approximately 3:49 a.m.
“This prompted the BPBD emergency response team to immediately go to the scene at 03.58 WIB.
βIt was discovered that a set of three terraces under construction had collapsed.
βOne of those rescued is receiving treatment at the scene.
βSearch and rescue operations were immediately initiated, and three adult males were found dead, two adult males were rescued alive, and one adult male who was trapped under the rubble was rescued,β he said.
He also disclosed that the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit has been called in to handle the bodies of the three victims. A joint team of LASEMA personnel, Lagos State Fire Service and the Nigeria Police Force are working together at the scene, with a LASEMA excavator deployed to expedite search and rescue operations.
