Diana-Mary Nsan, Senior Media Assistant to the Minister of Sports Development, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.

Enoh made this statement after the Nigerian Athletics Federation (AFN) revealed a strong list of 40 athletes who will compete for their nation at the African Championships in Douala.

Some of the biggest Nigerian names entering the fray are Tobi Amusan, Favor Ofili, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and Chidi Okezie.

The Minister highlighted the importance of this championship as a precursor to the Olympic Games, highlighting its role in preparing athletes for the podium at the world’s largest sporting event in Paris.

“The African Athletics Championships should serve as a dress rehearsal for the Olympic Games,” Enoh said.

“I ask all our flag bearers to represent the green and white flag with pride and aim to regain the first place trophy at the end of the tournament.”

He also advised athletes to be careful with their diet and hydration, highlighting the importance of this Olympic year and the increased scrutiny they will face.
