Troops arrest eight suspected Boko Haram terrorists, 2 others in Taraba

Troops of the 6th Brigade, Nigerian Army, have arrested eight suspected Boko Haram terrorists and two others in Taraba State.

This was stated by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at Brigade 6, Captain Olubodunde Oni, in his statement, Tuesday, in Jalingo.

He said: “Acting quickly on reliable intelligence, brigade troops on September 29, 2024, carried out a raid on the residence of one of the terrorist leaders Tukura Abdul-Kareem in Sunkani Ward in Ardo-Kola local government area of ​​the region. country.

“This operation resulted in the arrest of Abdul-Kareem and seven additional suspects who traveled from various states to join the terror cell.

“Investigations revealed that eight Boko Haram terrorists planned to set up camp in Taraba, to launch Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks against innocent individuals and critical facilities.

“Abdul-Kareem also admitted to joining BHT with his brother Adamu Abdul-Kareem, who is still in the bush with other terrorists in an unknown area.

“The items confiscated by the suspects included nine cell phones, identity cards, packages of stolen goods suspected to be marijuana and other hard drugs.”

He added that troops deployed to Chachanji village in Takum LGA arrested two informants linked to a notorious kidnapping syndicate in the area on September 30.

“These men are known to have provided vital information to the kidnappers, who have been assisting notorious criminals known as Anyogo and his gang with information about the troops activities in the area.

“They are responsible for identifying businessmen who have money to rob or kidnap for ransom.

“The two suspects, namely Patience Tersoo and Joy Emmanuel, are suspected to be Anyogo’s wife and sister respectively.

“The items recovered from the suspects included a mobile phone, a Super Core motorbike and a pumpkin,” the spokesperson added.
