Troops arrested suspected kidnapping, informants in Ondo

Brigade 32 troops, the Nigerian Army, have arrested a kidnapper suspected and rescued a victim in Ondo.

Assistant Director, Army Public Relations Officer, 32 Brigade, Major Njoka Irabor, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday at Akure.

Irabor said that the troops deployed in a quick strike operation at the Operations Base in the future, Auga, conducted an operation on June 3 to maintain activities for the kidnappers and other criminal elements in the area of ​​responsibility (AOR).

He said: “The operation was carried out after credible information received from local residents about a family that made plans to pay a ransom to the kidnappers around Sabon only, along the Aiyere -Kabba road in the State of Ondo.

“The troops quickly put an ambush along the route determined by the kidnappers for those who gave a ransom.

“As a result, the troops caught one of the kidnappers and rescued being kidnapped, 10 years old.

“The victim has been in a kidnapper detention for three days. However, the kidnapper was suspected of injury during the operation.”

“The troops, on June 4, also arrested an Abubakar (alias Maude), a suspected informant who was placed around Auga in the Southeast Akoko Regional Government area in the State of Ondo.

“Initial interrogation revealed that the suspect was a member of the kidnapping syndicate, placed in the area to monitor the movement and activities of the troops and inform the syndicate members.

“The suspects are currently in our detention for further interrogation and will be handed over to the right security agent for prosecution.”
