1 Brigade troops, the Nigerian Army, have killed bandits and restored weapons in the Talata-Mafara and Kaura-Namoda regional areas in the state of Zamfara.
Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations of the Army, 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Captain Suleiman Omale, revealed this in a statement on Friday in Gusau.
He said the troops bound to the Tombat Team 6 (CT 6) met a large group of armed bandits who had infiltrated the village of Mai Kwanugga in the LGA talata-Tan-Tan-Tan-Tan-Tan-Tan-Tana-Tana-Tan-Tana LGA duel.
He added that the bandits had attacked the residents and burned the houses before the arrival of the troops.

The statement reads: “After contact, the troops involved criminals in a fierce weapon battle, successfully neutralizing several terrorists, including five famous bandit leaders: Auta Jijji, Dankali, Sagidi, Kachallah Rijaji, and Kachallah Suza.
“Reinforcement from 1 Quick Response Force (QRF) brigade and 1 Special Forces (1 BSF) brigade pursued a escaped bandit, which led to the recovery of the weapons cache, including 4 AK-47 rifles, 1 PKT Maching, 2 RPG Tube, 6 RPG Bombs, 28 PKT Rounds.
“On May 2, 2025, during the postoperatively exploitation, the locals gave additional weapons and confirmed further details about the leaders of the bandits that were neutralized. Unfortunately, two civilians were trapped in a shootout from stray bullets. The situation was being monitored closely, and efforts to eliminate the remaining threats in the area continued.”
