Troops of the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade have rescued 19 kidnapped victims on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
They also killed one suspected terrorist in a coordinated operation in Bwari FCT Area Council.
This was disclosed by the Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations, Army Brigade Guard Headquarters, Odumola Olawuyi in a statement, Saturday in Abuja.

He said the operation, which was carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Police and local residents, took place around Gidan Dogo after receiving credible intelligence regarding the location of the terrorists.
He added that terrorists were reportedly responsible for kidnapping residents in Byazhin area of Bwari recently.
“Troops came into contact with the criminals during the operation, which led to a firefight in which one of the terrorists was neutralized while the other escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
“Further exploitation in the area resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and one locally made firearm.
“All 19 abductees were rescued and evacuated to safety, while the troops later returned to their Forward Operating Base in Bwari.
“The rescued victim is currently receiving attention,” the spokesperson added.
