The Minister of Foreign Affairs, ambassador Yusuf Tuggar has extended warm congratulations to the Catholic faithful all over the world for the success of his successful Pope Leo XIV as a supreme pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church.

Tuggar, in a declaration of Friday signed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa said that Nigeria rejoices from the global Catholic community in this important and historical opportunity and has prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guide for the new Pope while assuming this sacred responsibility.

He said: “We are confident that with his wealth of experience and devotion, his holiness will bring with compassion, humility and a constant commitment to peace, unity and spiritual well -being of humanity.

“As a nation with a significant and great Catholic population, Nigeria appreciates the lasting relationship between the Holy See and our country. Therefore, we can’t wait to continue promoting interreligious dialogue, harmony, social justice and the common good of all people.

“Once again, Nigeria congratulates Pope Leo XIV and the entire Catholic faithful. Its papacy can be blessed with grace and profound impact on the world.”
