Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Friday rejected a move by the Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to appeal the Court of Appeal’s decision on the party’s leadership crisis at the Supreme Court.
Wike spoke after inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Valodrome, Abuja, venue of the PDP National Convention scheduled for March 29 and 30.
The Turaki-led National Executive Committee (NEC) on Friday, unanimously ratified the decision of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to appeal the appeal court’s decision regarding the PDP leadership crisis.

An appeals court earlier this month annulled the November 2025 convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, and resulted in a Turaki-led NWC.
At the forum, Wike described the move as “unfounded” and stressed that it would have no impact on the party’s planned national convention.
According to him, the convention will continue to run, while efforts to resolve internal disputes will continue afterwards.
“I always say, in any group there will be complaints, it cannot be expected that in a family of two or three people, everyone will always be satisfied, let alone a party with millions of members.
“There will always be a handful of people who are unhappy. We have agreed to sit down with them, understand their concerns and see how we can accommodate them. What is most important is the interest of the party as a whole,” said the former Rivers State governor.
He said the PDP would surprise Nigerians by using the 2027 elections to show its strength.
“PDP is a very big party. Just look at its umbrella, it can accommodate everyone,” he added.
Regarding zoning arrangements, Wike confirmed that positions had been allocated in all zones.
“We have determined our position zones. Each zone has its own slot. The presidency is in the South region, while the leadership is in the North region.
“We believe this consensus arrangement will make the process easier.
“For the first time, the PDP is presenting a united front, not a ‘unity list’ that usually reflects internal divisions,” he said.
The Minister of Finance explained that the visit to the stadium was to assess the final arrangements for the convention, which according to him was about 95 percent ready.
Wike was accompanied by the Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, and Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC), Mohammed Abdulrahman.
Others are the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, other NCWC members as well as the Chairman of the Rivers Council of Elders, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche.
