At least two people have died and two others were kidnapped in the cult war in Oko, Orumba-North regional government in the State of Anambra.
Spokesman for the State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the news in a statement on Friday at AWKA.
He said the suspect “Brave Cult” began to shoot indiscriminately in Oko at 8:40 pm on Thursday.
He added that the joint security forces, consisting of police, Nigerian army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Civil and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), and vigilantous operators themselves, had taken over the area.
“The joint security team rescued two people, including a woman, who currently receives medical attention in the hospital.
“Witness accounts revealed that armed criminals operate on motorbikes and SUV Lexus 350 black without number plates,” said the spokesman.
