Two in imprisonment for 18 months due to sex outside of marriage in Afghanistan

The Supreme Court of the Taliban in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Tuesday, punished a man and woman in prison 18 months for having sex outside of marriage.

They were also sentenced to 39 eyelashes due to the same violation.

It is unclear whether Floggings, which was carried out on Monday, occurred in public, as happened in the previous case.

Since returning to power in 2021, the Taliban has returned public punishment, including the brush and execution, for violations such as adultery, robbery, and murder.

Taliban officials said sharia enforcement, or strict Islamic law, is very important to reduce crime and ensure public safety in the country.
