Two siblings killed in mine collapse in Niger

Two siblings were killed on Saturday in a mine collapse in Kakaki village, Paikoro local government area, Niger State.

The victims – Zubairu Ibrahim (20) and Sadiq Ibrahim (25) – died when the mine where they were working suddenly collapsed.

Ministry of Mines and Solid Mineral Resources spokesperson Maureen Dibie confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Yunusa Nahauni, led other officials to pay condolence visits to the bereaved families on Sunday.

The incident came two months after several miners died in a mine collapse in Shiroro LGA.
