U20 AFCON – Nigeria flying eagles make Flying begin the tournament with Victoria over Tunisia

The Nigeria U20 team began its campaign in the current AFCon with a thin 1-0 victory over Tunisia thanks to a well-worked team goal that was completed by Ibrahim Auwalu in the 38th minute.

It produced a sweet left foot to end a radical team movement that saw Divine Oliseh divide Tunisia’s defense so that he scored what ended as the winner of the game, and ensures the first three points of Nigeria in the group.

Although Nigeria dominated the first procedures and logging several opportunities, they found a resistant Tunisian side determined to stand firm. But in the 38th minute, Odinaka Okoro’s well weighted assistance found Ibrahim, who did not make any error from short distance to put Nigeria in front.

The Africans of the North responded urgently, almost drawing the level through Omar Ben Ali and Anis Doubbal, but the Nigerian goalkeeper and defenders remained firm. Tunisia’s best opportunity came in the 87th minute, but Doubbal’s strike was suffocated in the center of the goal.

Nigeria’s energy in the midfield, driven by Divine Oliseh and Clinton Jephta, helped them control the long spells of the party, although the second half was more heartbreaking and full of offenses. The game saw six yellow letters evenly between the teams, a sign of their growing intensity.

Tunisia, semifinalists in 2021 and 2023, pushed strongly in the last minutes with a burst of corners and shots from the distance, but could not find a path through the defensive line of Nigeria organized by Daniel Bameyi and Adamu Maigari.

The result gives Nigeria three vital points in a group that also includes Morocco and Kenya, while Tunisia now faces additional pressure in their next game.
