UCL: Osimhen’s Galatasaray lead first leg vs Liverpool; Bayern, Atletico win big

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen bagged an assist as Galatasaray secured a 1-0 first-leg win over Liverpool in their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night.

Osimhen assisted Mario Lemina’s header to score the winner in the seventh minute – conceding Arne Slot’s side’s 10th goal from a corner this season.

The Nigerian striker thought he had made it 2-0 after a mistake by Ibrahima Konate, but the close-range effort was disallowed after Baris Alper Yilmaz was deemed offside in the warm-up.

Liverpool thought they had equalized in the 70th minute after the ball crossed the line from Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner, but that too was ruled out after a lengthy check with VAR.
