Umakhihe, former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, described the election of Senator Okpebholo in the Edo governorship election held last Saturday as auspicious.

He said he was confident that his administration would usher in a bigger and better Edo State, where the welfare and preferences of the citizens would be given top priority.

In a congratulatory message to the governor-elect and his deputy, which he personally signed, Umakhihe expressed his joy at the arrival of a new prospect of hope for the Edo indigenes and all other people of the state.

“Their victory will usher in a new prospect of hope and tranquility for Edo, where all development indicators in all spheres will be achieved to the satisfaction of the citizens of the state,” stressed the former Federal Secretary Perm.

He also congratulated the All Progressives Congress on the hard-fought victory of the party and its candidates in the Edo gubernatorial election.

Umakhihe, whose impact in the elections contributed significantly to the APC’s triumph in the two Owan local governments and the entire Edo North Senatorial District, noted that his full support for the candidature of Okpebholo and Idahosa stemmed from their impressive track record and pedigree in implementing development projects aimed at the upliftment of indigenous people and communities.

β€œTheir constant display of passion, empathy and concern for the well-being of those around them endeared them to me.”
He further stressed that the crucial and fundamental turning point for the Edo APC in the governorship race was the unity of purpose demonstrated by the entire party cadre.
Umakhihe added that the party was more united than ever in last Saturday’s gubernatorial contest. He praised the party leadership for taking remarkable steps that led to its and its candidates’ victory in the hotly contested election.

“This momentous victory achieved by our party APC was achieved through the unity of purpose visibly demonstrated above all other paramount considerations by all stakeholders.

β€œThe events leading up to the gubernatorial election have brought out the best in the party’s leadership and its flag bearers, making the APC more united, forward-looking and focused than ever in its existence.”

He admitted that those who obtained the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms in the gubernatorial election process, including those who contested the primaries, were promptly contacted by the party leadership and immediately stepped up to ensure a favorable outcome for all in the gubernatorial election.

He said that “No one was treated shabbily and asked to go and do their worst.”

He further commended the party leadership for its foresight in not only uniting its dissatisfied founding members ahead of the election, β€œbut also going further in reconciling those who were wronged in the past, apologizing to them when necessary and having them fully reintegrated into the fold. All these measures contributed immeasurably to the success of our APC party in the gubernatorial contest last Saturday.”

The APC stalwart congratulated the Edo people for making the right choice in voting for the APC and assured them that the confidence they had in the character and ability of the newly elected governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Honourable Dennis Idahosa, to get the state out of trouble, would not be taken for granted.

β€œA new Edo where the interest and satisfaction of the people will take precedence over personal interests and considerations is on the horizon with their wise choice of a new governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Honourable Dennis Idahosa,” Umakhihe said.
