The Super Eagles striker, Umar Sadiq, has reflected on his challenging time in the Royal Society, attributing his struggles to the setbacks of injuries and limited opportunities.
In the summer of 2022, the Nigerian joined the true Almeria company of 20 million euros; In a prolonged but high profile movement.
Sadiq had just delivered an outstanding campaign with Almeria, scoring 43 goals and providing 13 assists in 84 appearances, helping them to ensure the promotion to the League.
As expected, he made a flight beginning in his new club, scoring his debut against Atlético de Madrid.
However, just when he began to find his feet, he suffered a great setback.
Few games in his career of society, the striker broke his ACL during a league match against Getafe.
The injury ruled out for the rest of the 2022/23 season and stopped its impulse completely.
After recovering, the lack of game time made it impossible to recover the rhythm and consistency.
“From the first day I went to the true society, I went there with many expectations,” Sadiq told TVC News.
“Unfortunately, I went there and after five days I broke my ACL and things changed. I was out for a season, I returned and I couldn’t get that continuity; I stayed behind.
“In addition, it was the decision of the coach I respected,” admitted the striker.
In January, Sadiq obtained a loan movement to Valencia, and the change has revived its form.
He has scored four goals in 11 League games for the Che and is gradually returning to his best moment.
“You can see that when I came here, week after week I am playing, I am winning my trust. As a soccer player, continuity (it is key).”
