Nigeria head coach, Jose Peseiro has brushed off concerns about the team’s underwhelming start in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 1-1 draw, at the Stade Alassane Ouattara, against Equatorial Guinea marked Peseiro’s first outing with Nigeria to a major tournament.
A Victor Osimhen goal secured a point for the team having gone behind to Nzalang Nationale late in the first half.
Speaking after the games, Peseiro indicated his satisfaction with the team performance, but expressed disappointment at the result.
“I’m sad about the result but not with the capacity of our performance,” Peseiro in his post-match presser.
“We played a good game, we created many chances and clear opportunities, especially in the second half, and I think we deserved to win.
Peseiro also attributed the challenging hot and humid condition as contributing factors to the result.
