United 777 Operated Flight carries out emergency in sfo in the pilot error

A flight from the United Airlines (UA) from Los Angeles (Lax) to Shanghai (PVG) deflected in San Francisco (SFO) on Saturday 22 March 2025, after one of the drivers was unable to bring the passport for international journey.

Flight UA198, operating on a Boeing 777-300er, landed in Los Angeles where the passengers received from $ 15 vouchers waiting for a replacement crew.

Ua 198 deflected from Lax to Sfo due to the pilot who forgot his passport. The original destination is Shanghai. I was flying already for 3 hours before I was informed.

United Airlines has notified interested travelers via message: “UA198 SFO-PVG: your flight is deflected in San Francisco due to an unexpected crew problem that requires a new crew. Once we arrive, we will bring you back on the road to Shanghai as soon as possible. We apologize sincerely for this interruption and appreciate your homeland.”

This accident marks the second occurrence of a problem relating to the passport on the same route within a week.

In the previous case, the problem was identified before departure, resulting in a delay of several hours while a replacement pilot was organized,

International flight protocols require Gate’s agents to check passengers passports together with boarding pass before allowing aircraft entry.

This verification process, however, appears inconsistently to members of the flight crew.

The financial implications of the deviation of a Boeing 777-300er are substantial.

Beyond the inconveniences for passengers, the airline has to face an increase in crew costs and further fuel expenses.

The plane probably needed to download fuel before landing in Los Angeles. The interruption also influenced the return flight program.

A Heathrow spokesman said: “All people who go in the long term are subject to security screening, including the individual involved in this case”.

Strurt went aboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner at Heathrow Terminal 5, but the most rigorous airport security measures led to his detention when he tried to go through customs without the required documents.

The London police informed Sky News: “We continue to collaborate with all our partners to evaluate and strengthen the already solid security measures in progress, which are constantly magazing as part of the largest partnership for safety”.

Once on board, the flight crew informed Ellis-Hebard that Jacksonville’s flight had been reassigned to another gate and that his current plane was destined for Jamaica.

Ellis-Hebard initially thought it was a joke until he recognized the serious behavior of the crew confirmed the error.

Unable to land in Jamaica without a passport, Ellis-Hebard remained on Jeway, who believed it was an American territory. The flight crew remained with her until her return flight to Philadelphia left hours later.
