Unity Bank Awards Grant Business N16m to 30 NYSC members

No less than 30 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) received a commercial subsidy of N16 million from Unity Bank Plc.

Commercial grants were assigned to the NYSC members during the latest edition of the development of the top entrepreneurship initiative of the Unity Bank, The Cortpreneurship Challenge.

The winners emerged at the top after having participated in a business competition in Batch to Stream 2 in 10 NYSC orientation fields in the Cross River, Niger, Abuja, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Plateau, Jigawa, Anambra and Lagos states.

In the NYSC orientation field in the IPAJA area in the state of Lagos, the member of the body Adeniyi Stephen Gbemininyi, who launched a fashion design activity, emerged as a total winner, winning the first N800,000 prize.

Kolawole Opeluwa Darasimi, a manufacturer of grass bags, won an N500,000 subsidy, while Johnson Elizabeth Ene received an N300,000 subsidy to support his cake and his pastry business.

Through the remaining nine states, 27 other winners have emerged even after launching corporate plans in different sectors such as fish production, poultry breeding, fashion, soap production and cakes, printing, pork and production of drinks, among others.

In the last six years, the Unity Bank Cortneurship Challenge has become an integral part of the NYSC program, aligning itself with the commitment of the federal government to improve the recent graduates in the middle of the growing lack of white -collar works.

The program attracts thousands of applications from the service of NYSC Corps members, whose company plans are evaluated for originality, marketability, occupability potential and general acumen.

Speaking during the grand finale of Lagos, the divisional garment of the retail sale and the SMEs of the Unity Bank, Adenike Abimbola, said: “At the Banca Unity, we believe that authorizing young people to model the economic future of Nigeria must be supported to provide longer -term sustainability.
