Things to Know About University of Ibadan Postgraduate School
- Enrolment in the University of Ibadan’s postgraduate programmes accounts for about 40% of the total number of students enrolled annually.
- Of these 40%, around 7,000 are master’s students.
- Once you are sure that you want to apply to the University of Ibadan graduate school, you need to start preparing for an English proficiency test.
- All candidates who have taken this test must not score less than 40%.
- You may be invited for an interview, although not all departments do this.
- You must download a reference form which must be completed and uploaded online along with your relevant credentials.

The University of Ibadan offers about 3 well known types of admission, we will not only list them but also take time to explain them.
- Full-time admission: Before you can be admitted into the University of Ibadan Graduate School as a full-time student, you must prove that you are unemployed for the current year. There is however a period that allows candidates who are employed to apply only if they prove that they are eligible to apply.
- Part-time admission :this program is mainly open to teachers and those who have obtained authorization from their workplace.
- Admission as an occasional student: Here, students and potential candidates will not be offered any degree upon completion of their studies.

We have taken the time to explain the different types of postgraduate admissions that the University of Ibadan offers, it is also normal for you to know the duration of each of these programs.
At UI, each of the programs will take you a minimum of 2 years to complete, some will take you more academic time like the Doctor of Philosophy which will take you a maximum of 6 academic semesters.

Please note that each year is composed of 2 semesters and 2 semesters constitute an academic session.
Note the following very important points:
- If you choose to study a master’s program at the University of Ibadan (UI), you will have to spend a good 18 months there.
