The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Non-Academic Staff Association of Educational Institutions and Associations (Nasu) and the Senior Staff Association of the University of Nigeria (SSANU) has directed its members to start protesting one day for complaints that have not been resolved on Thursday.
The direction was contained in a circular addressed to all branch leaders and signed together by Secretary General Nasu, Mr. Peters Adeyemi, and National President Ssanu, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim.
According to the circular, the protest follows the failure of the federal government to overcome the old problems that affect its members even though there are several extension of the ultimatum.
The trade union mentions the existing problems including disbursement of unfair benefits of N50 billion and delays in re-negotiations of the Nasu/Ssanu-Federal Government in 2009.
Others were unpaid salary arrears for two months, arrears of salary increases of 25 and 35 percent, and there was no cutting to third parties in May and June 2022.

They noted that although the Joint Consultation Committee had been inaugurated by the Minister of Education to meet their demands, the two meetings held so far only made a little progress.
The trade union stated that the meeting held on September 19 and October 6 in the Conference Room of the Permanent Secretary in Abuja failed to produce concrete commitments from government officials.
Therefore, the committee directed all branches at the university and inter-university centers to hold a joint congress on Wednesday to mobilize its members to protest on Thursday.
The protest activities will include prayer sessions, protests marches on campus, placard installation, and press conferences to express complaints of members.
The committee urged all its members at Federal University and the State to actively participate in the protest.
