US Strikes on Iran Ignite Global Divide when Britain was defended, China, Russia condemned

Tensions in the Middle East have increased dramatically after the United States air strikes on three main nuclear sites Iran – Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow – which were issued on Sunday morning under the orders of President Donald Trump. This strike has caused international reactions that are divided sharply, underlining deeper global divisions about how to manage the developing crisis.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer quickly maintains US actions, describing Iran’s nuclear program as a “great threat to international security,” as reported by The Guardian. Starmer stressed that Washington’s military response aims to prevent this significant threat and ask Tehran to be involved in diplomatic negotiations.

Echoing this attitude, British Foreign Minister David Lammy urged Iran to “show restraint” and return to the negotiating table for the conversation.

Meanwhile, the Head of the European Union’s Foreign Policy, Kaja Kallas, called for immediate de-eSCALATION and the return of negotiations, as reported by Al Jazeera. “I urged all parties to resign, return to the negotiating table, and prevent further escalation,” Kallas wrote in X, while emphasizing that Iran “should not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons” and confirm that the European Union’s Foreign Ministers will gather on Monday to discuss the situation.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba also voiced concern, emphasizing, “We monitor the situation there with great attention.”

Conversely, both China and Russia strongly condemn US attacks. According to Xinhua, the Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized the bombing as a “violation of the UN Charter and International Law,” argued that the action had worsened regional instability. The ministry calls for a ceasefire immediately, specifically urged Israel to participate in de-escalation efforts and continuing dialogue.

Russia issued a similar warning, labeling the US decision “irresponsible” and “a striking international law violation.” Moscow called for the end of hostility and urged new diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts, as reported by the Moscow Times.

For its part, Iran warns that strikes will have a long -lasting consequence, a declaration that has increasingly triggered a wider and more devastating conflict in areas that are very unstable.
