United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Richard Mills Jr. said on Friday that his country wants Nigeria to play a bigger role in world affairs.
Mills stated this at a welcoming reception hosted by the US Consulate in Lagos.
The Ambassador said he was committed to strengthening collaboration in all areas.
Mills was assigned to Nigeria on May 2, 2024, and presented his credentials to President Bola Tinubu in July.
He most recently served as Deputy U.S. Representative to the United Nations.

The envoy said: βI am very pleased to be here on instructions from the Secretary of State and President Biden to help encourage Nigeria to step up and speak out.β
He said the partnership between the two countries continues to grow.
According to him, the recently concluded Global Inclusivity and Artificial Intelligence (AI): Africa (GIAA) Conference in Lagos reflects how Nigeria is moving forward to bring in new technologies and recognize its future in technology, AI and the creative industry.
“Our bond is not just between governments. It is a bond between peoples.
βThe relationship between the Nigerian and American people is very close and strong,β he added.
