UWCL: Jennifer Echegini faces a painful return to Turin after PSG’s defeat to Juventus

Nigerian midfielder Jennifer Echegini endured a tough night as Paris Saint-Germain lost 3-1 to her former club Juventus in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) second round playoff on Wednesday.

Echegini was recently transferred to PSG with a contract until June 2027.

He had a successful spell with the Italian national team, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances.

Juventus took an early lead through Amalie Vangsgaard. Although PSG equalised through Thiniba Samoura, Juventus quickly regained control of the match through Sofia Cantore, who restored the lead just before the break.

Juventus sealed victory in the second half when Bennison scored from another assist from Cantore, giving Juventus a two-goal lead heading into the return leg in Paris next week.

Juventus proved too strong for Echegini and her teammates, leaving the French side with an uphill battle to qualify for the next round.

Jennifer Echegini will now hope to help PSG turn the tie around in the return leg on September 26.
