Veteran maritime journalist, communication expert, Bolaji Now Oyetola’s Media Adviser

The Minister of the Navy and the Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola approved the appointment of the former president of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (Maran) Dr. Bolaji Akinola as a councilor for the media and communications.

The interested parties who spoke with our correspondent described the appointment as promptly taking into account the need for a professional in the expert sector to supervise the minister’s arm wrestling arm in the new ministry while the country strives to exploit the potentials of the country’s marine and blue sector.

Akinola, who has left praiseworthy footprints behind as a maritime journalist, should bring his over twenty -five years of vast experience and profound knowledge of the sector to his new role.

The new media helper of the minister has achieved a doctorate on average and communications at the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos and achieved two master-play (Lagos Business School) and Master of Transport Management (Ladoke Akinintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho).

Its professional affiliations include the member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (Nipr), the Chartered Institute of Arbitration, UK and Maritime Arbitration Association of Nigeria (Maan).

Bolaji had been an executive secretary of the Conference and the Maritime Exhibition of Nigeria (Nimax) from 2011 to 2014, and is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping (Fnis) and the Chartered Institute of Shipping of Nigeria (FCISN), among others.

The scope of his new assignment, among other responsibilities, will include the modeling and management of relations with the media, the guide of communication strategies and the guarantee of an effective dissemination of information regarding the policies, programs and initiatives of the Ministry aimed at exploiting the potential of the vast marine resources of Nigeria.
