Victor Olatunji’s goal is not enough and Sparta Prague falls to Sigma

Nigerian striker Victor Olatunji found the back of the net for Sparta Prague in their League clash against Sigma Olomouc, but it was not enough to secure a victory as they lost 3-2 at home on Friday night.

Olatunji opened the scoring in the 12th minute, scoring his third goal of the season in just eight league games and sixth in all competitions.

However, the Maroons’ undefeated streak in the Czech Republic’s top flight came to an end at the ARENA epet.

Sigma Olomouc equalized through Nigerian striker Yunusa Muritala in the 67th minute, and Jan Fiala put them ahead with a goal in the 78th minute.

Filip Zorvan sealed the victory for Sigma with a goal in the 86th minute. Although Sparta managed a late goal in added time from Ermal Krasniqi, it was insufficient to change the outcome of the match.

After this defeat, Sparta Prague now occupies second place in the league, behind its rival Slavia Prague, who leads on goal difference and has a game in hand.

Olatunji is yet to receive a call-up to the Nigerian senior team.

However, if he continues to deliver consistent displays, an invitation to join the Super Eagles may be on the horizon.
