Napoli‘s striker, Victor Osimhen has officially been bestowed with the prestigious Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Footballer of the Year award.
The culmination of the AIC awards ceremony, dating back to 1968, witnessed Osimhen and his teammates being celebrated across various categories on Monday evening.
The apex accolade of the night, the Player of the Year, has previously been claimed by football luminaries such as Rafael Leao, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Osimhen’s selection as the 2023 recipient stems from his remarkable goal-scoring prowess, evident in his 26 goals from 32 Serie A appearances during Napoli’s triumphant season.
Despite facing challenges in the initial stages of the 2023-24 campaign and grappling with recent injury setbacks, Osimhen has sustained an impressive goals-per-game ratio, notching six goals from 10 appearances after the 14th gameweek.
