Osimhen’s recent outburst on social media, where he attacked and abused former Nigerian international Finidi George, has cast a shadow over his career.

This incident is not the first of its kind; Previously, he insulted Nigerian journalists and another legend of the game, Victor Ikpeba, for analyzing his game.
This behavior has significantly tarnished his image as the reigning African Footballer of the Year.
While professional football has the power to refine people, it appears to have failed in Osimhen’s case.
Whatever happened between him and Finidi George should not have reached such an unpleasant level.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) should consider questioning and possibly reprimanding Osimhen for his actions to avoid future incidents.
Without intervention, it may not be long before the NFF president faces similar disrespect.

Given his status, he should have behaved better. His recent actions show signs of radicalism, rebellion and possible insubordination, traits that many senior club officials consider undesirable.
Consequently, you may have damaged your reputation and limited your future opportunities due to your lack of self-control.
While Finidi’s decision to step away from the team is commendable and shows a degree of honour, the core problem lies not with the coach but with systemic failings within the Nigerian Football Federation.

The Federation has long failed to discipline players and develop a football system capable of helping players to be good role models and ambassadors of the game.
