A 56-year-old woman poisoned five other Vietnamese tourists with cyanide served in a cup before drinking the poison herself at a luxury hotel in Thailand.
The bodies of three men and three women were found Tuesday night by staff in a suite at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in central Bangkok.
Initial examination of the scene revealed no signs of violence and robbery was quickly ruled out.
Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau spokesman Noppasil Poonsawas told a news conference Wednesday that one of the six tourists, two of whom were also U.S. passport holders, was behind the deaths.
He said: “We want to confirm that one of the six people who died caused this incident by using cyanide.
“We believe one of the six committed the crime.”
Meanwhile, the victim’s family confirmed to reporters that there had been a dispute over money.
