Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne has cautioned her teammates against underestimating Cape Verde as they gear up for the first leg of their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash.
The Super Falcons match is scheduled to take place at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja this Thursday, with the return fixture set for Praia next week Tuesday.
Winner of the tie will secure a spot in the 2024 WAFCON finals, which will be hosted by Morocco.
Expressing the team’s focus on securing a place in the prestigious competition, Payne revealed:
“I haven’t heard much about them; they are a little bit unknown in terms of how they play.
“We will see some videos to know more about them,” in an exclusive interview with NFF TV.
She continued, “We just build on what we normally do and focus on ourselves. Our way of playing is keeping the ball.
“We believe if we have the ball, it will be difficult for the opponent to score. We will try and stick to our plan and get a win.”
The Super Falcons finished fourth in last edition of the tournament hosted by Morocco.
