We all make mistakes, Ighalo backs Osimhen over Napoli situation

Former Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo has backed struggling Victor Osimhen to come back stronger after the unfortunate drama surrounding his transfer from Napoli.

Osimhen failed to secure a deal before the European transfer window deadline, with his planned move to Chelsea falling through at the last minute.

The Napoli striker is currently out of favour at the Serie A giants, with manager Antonio Conte saying he is unlikely to rejoin the team.

Reactions to the situation came from Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike, with Ighalo arguing that Nigerians should support Osimhen at this time.

Responding to the development, Ighalo, via his personal X account, stated that Osimhen is human and is not free from mistakes.

He wrote: “No one is perfect and we all make mistakes in life, but seeing the comments about this young man from people in his own country makes me very sad, even without knowing what happened.

“I spoke to him and I could feel the sadness in his voice, the way he was treated, this young man played with all his heart and fought for his country.

“Hmmm, very good, he will definitely come back stronger, we learn every day in life. Happy New Month to you all,” Ighalo wrote.
