‘We compiled Buhari into politics to stop OPC, Jorubas from revoking the fulanis in Ilorin’ – Galadima

The leading northern politician and former allies of the former President of the late Muhammadu Buhari, Buba Galadima, have revealed that the former president was recruited into politics to stop Jorubas’s efforts from reclaiming Ilorin, the capital of the state of Kwara, from Fulani’s hegemony.

Galadima who made a surprising revelation when speaking on a television program that appeared on Tuesday, said the decision to drag buhari into politics by supporters of northern politics was a strategic step to stop the efforts of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) to issue the Fulani structure in Ilorin.

Galadima explained that worrying about the development at the time, some northern leaders felt the need to take a drastic action when OPC mobilized a lot in early 2000 in an effort to drive Fulani from Ilorin, and they had to persuade the Buhari to run for President as a man of Fulani.

“Some of us who recruited him into politics have a mission, and I will reveal that mission today,” Galadima said.

“General Buhari entered politics, it was not a province, he never liked politicians because he believed we were fake and that we did not mean what we said but there were incidents that made some of us recruit him, convince him and use others to convince him to join politics, even though we have our own agenda.

“In 2000, OPC went berserk in several parts of the country, especially in the southwest. They have made many people uncomfortable from this part of the country to -until they mobilize more than 500 vehicles to come and attack Ilorin with one -one goal they do not call the president they call the president they call the president they call the president they call the president they call the president and tinibu dan presiden yang mereka sebut sebagai presiden dan presiden yang mereka rasakan dan kami rasakan tinibu dan presiden yang mereka rasakan dan kami rasakan bahwa kami merasa seperti itu dan kami rasakan bahwa kami merasa bahwa kami merasa seperti itu dan kami rasakan bahwa kami merasa bahwa kami merasa seperti itu dan kami rasakan bahwa kami merasa bahwa kami merasa seperti itu dan kami rasakan bahwa kami merasa bahwa kami merasa seperti itu dan kami rasakan bahwa kami merasa seperti itu dan kami rasakan bahwa kami merasa bahwa kami merasa bahwa Fulan. Gubernur Lagos tidak melakukan apa -What.

“And some of us feel that the group of people is driven by their leaders in the position of authority. So, how do we stop it?

“I held a meeting at Kaduna at Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu’s house in a place named Dongo Kanji, right opposite the house of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

“And some of them we invite including Alhaji Wada Nas, Prof. Yadudu, Bashir Dalhatu himself, Alhaji Yahaya Suleiman and a number of others, about 34 of us. And we sit on the grounds, ‘How do we save our people from this OPC threat?

“So I suggest that we have to do it because you can remove the government in only two ways, through the barrel of weapons and through ballot boxes.

“And they said it was impossible to challenge General Obasanjo. That’s how Buhari appeared in our minds and when he was approached, he had very bad words for politicians but because he didn’t say he did not do it, we still persuaded him.

“In short, we achieved our first goal to achieve what OPC was doing because soon Buhari joined the political politics, we had a very large sightseeing in Daura to initiate him into politics.

“The Obasanjo government became turbulent and trembled to the bone marrow and because it was some of our thoughts, Obasanjo had to really make an OPC. So we achieved the first goal we brought General Buhari into partisan politics so that the rest now is history.”
