‘We have not left Kanu, we negotiate for their liberation silently’ —gov otti

State Governor Abia Alex Otti, has convinced Ndigbos that the Governor and Southeast Political Leader have not left leaders detained from the Biafra Indigenous Peoples (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in detention since his arrest in Kenya in 2021.

Otti, who gave a guarantee during a press conference held at the state government building on Friday, said it was contrary to the perception in several places that the governor in the region had left the Kanu for his fate, there was a high-powered negotiation that was held secretly with the Nigerian government to secure the release of the Kanu, even though the negotiations were not intended to be in the public.

Responding to the question of why the governors and political leaders in this region did not do many things to secure the release of Kanu as well as leaders in the north conducting forgiveness for bandits leaders, Otti said there was involvement with the authorities aimed at freeing the ongoing IPOB leader, adding that involvement would immediately produce fruit.

“Some of the involvement and guarantees we receive are not for public consumption because it might thwart the process.

“But you can just accept that, as the governor, I am at the forefront to ensure he returns home. All southeast governors together in this matter,” Otti said.
