The European team has won the Ryder Cup in New York – despite the last minute battle from the USA team.
European team finished the second day Tournament with an advantage of 11.5-4.5 that has never happened before.
They then moved closer to the 14 points needed to maintain the trophy before each player had even gone on Sunday, after both teams were blessed with half points when Viktor Hovland was forced to withdraw due to injury.
The last day’s battle saw the home team to roar back into a battle with a series of strict wins before Europe reached 14 very important points to maintain the trophy thanks to Putt from Shane Lowry.
Tyrrell Hatton’s draw with Collin Morikawa landed Europe last half point that needed to win.
Tension often boils in this year’s contest, with many viewers at Bethpage Black in New York issued when Europe Luke Donald dominated on Saturday.
Rory Mcilroy is often at the end of the recipient and heckles – some of them are led by Ryder’s First Cup Broadcasters for a Megafon on Saturday.
Heather McMahan pushed the song “F *** You Rory” ahead of the morning session. He has apologized and resigned from his role, said PGA America on Sunday.
Then on Saturday, Mcilroy replied by telling a spectator to “close the F *** up” while his teammate Shane Lowry was seen detained by his caddy when he tried to face someone.
The players themselves have also clashed, with Bryson Dechambeau in America facing Justin Rose from Europe after he asked his caddy to move when he queued Putt.
Extra security officers and police were recruited to control fans’ behavior while large screens showed a warning about the noise of the audience.
Restraining tears after a week of draining, Mcilroy said about European victory: “I am very proud to be part of this team.
“As soon as we won in Rome, we distracted our attention to do something that was very unlikely to do – to win in America and in New York.
“This is an extraordinary week. To hear ‘Ole Ole’ here in America, to do something that we think we cannot do, comments after whistling (in 2021), the decade of American dominance – we take a lot of it, we let it trigger us.”
He added: “We are very fortunate to get an extraordinary leader at Luke Donald and he is shebbing us through the process and he is extraordinary.
“Eleven of 12 players from Rome returned. We did what we needed to do and we would celebrate as if there was no tomorrow.”
