
To provide health coverage for citizens through effective and efficient health insurance, the Rivers state Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, Monday said the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is poised to ensure that all citizens of the state have access to health care through a health insurance scheme that covers all and sundry.
He stated this while declaring open a three – day workshop on Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme, Friday in Port Harcourt.
Dr Adaeze, while lauding the state assembly for the passage of the health insurance bill into law since 2020, stated that what Fubara Fubara’s administration want to achieve is to drive the process through public and private partnership.
She urged all stakeholders to support the , adding that all necessary survey and data have been gathered to make the programme a success.
Earlier, the acting director of Health lnsurance, Rivers state Ministry of Health, Dr Vetty Agala, said over the years, the state has been putting necessary facilities on ground for the smooth kickp- off of the scheme.
The commissioner stated that the previous administration of Governor Nyesom Wike in the state laid the foundation by building and upgrading health facilities both in the primary and in the secondary health care.
