
The Headquarters Western Naval Command (HQ WNC) of the Nigerian Navy on Saturday carried out the first quarter march as part of the activities outlined in the Navy’s 2026 program of events.
The morning exercise brought together officers and sailors who actively participated, demonstrating endurance, discipline and unity in line with the service’s operational standards.
Representing the Flag Commander Western Naval Command (FOC), Rear Admiral AA Mustapha, the Chief of Staff (CSO), Rear Admiral NC Ekwom, commended the personnel for the strong turnout and resilience throughout the march.
He stressed that physical fitness remains a vital element of operational effectiveness, stressing that routine exercises such as route marches help to sustain fighting spirit, sharpen mental readiness and promote general well-being, especially under evolving maritime security demands.
Rear Admiral Ekwom also urged personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline and teamwork in the discharge of their duties, stressing that such values are vital to achieving the Command’s objectives.
The exercise concluded without incident or casualties, underscoring Western Naval Command’s commitment to maintaining a fit, disciplined and mission-ready force.
